HUT-TO-HUT SNOWSHOE & SKI EXPEDITIONS
Into the Arctic Wilderness, One Hut at a Time

Perhaps the best meditation there is. Just you, your group, your pulkka and the Arctic wilderness.
Our hut-to-hut adventures in Finnish Lapland take us away from roads, resorts and everyday life, travelling through some of Finland’s most beautiful Arctic wilderness. By day, we hike on on snowshoes or specialised back-country fell skis, pulling our food and equipment behind us in a pulkka sled. By evening, we reach a simple wilderness hut, make the fire, cook together and settle in for the night.
There’s time for a hot toti, a good book, stories around the fire – or simply doing very little. After a good night’s sleep, we get up, pack for the day and continue our journey.
Simple life is relaxing – making a fire, collecting water from a spring or melting snow, and cooking in the wilderness. You’ll learn new wilderness skills while enjoying the basics.
Simple. Physical. Peaceful. And surprisingly addictive!

So, what does this trip actually look like? Watch this video diary from one of our expeditions last winter.

WHERE DO WE GO?
Our expeditions can take us into Pallas–Ylläs National Park or further north to Kilpisjärvi, Halti and the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, right up in the northwestern corner of Finnish Lapland.
The route planning is based on traversing the most beautiful spots, but respecting the Arctic weather conditions. Each Arctic wilderness expedition is planned around the group, the conditions and how many days you want to spend out there. We recommend a minimum of 2 nights, but with 3 to 7 nights is the sweet spot as it keeps getting better and better!
You can travel on snowshoes or specialised backcountry skis – or try both. No previous skiing or snowshoeing experience is necessary; we’ll teach you what you need as we go.

WHAT’S IT REALLY LIKE?
This isn’t a luxury lodge-to-lodge holiday – and that’s rather the point.
Our wilderness huts are simple and shared. We sleep in bunk beds, there’s no running water and the toilet is outside. We pull what we need in our pulkkas and share the everyday jobs: making the fire, picking up drinking water / melting snow, cooking and getting ready for the next day.
In the evening, you can choose to relax, read a book or join us for a card game. And when it’s time to brush your teeth, you’ll be doing it under the stars – perhaps even while the Northern Lights are playing above you!
We also carry tents with us throughout the journey, giving us a safe shelter option should the Arctic weather pick up.
You don’t need previous expedition experience, but you do need reasonable fitness, a sense of adventure and to enjoy being outdoors. Depending on the route, we can spend several hours each day travelling through the wilderness. If these photos get you excited, then this is your type of a trip!
And it doesn’t have to be all hard work. We can include a relaxed day at a hut, explore without the pulkkas or add other Arctic experiences such as ice fishing or snowmobile transport.

YOUR GROUP, OUR ADVENTURE.
Our hut-to-hut adventures are currently available for private groups only – groups of friends, families, tour operators or teams looking for a proper Arctic experience together.
Minimum group size: 5 people
When: Primarily March & April
Duration: Tailored to your group
Price: Approx. €1,400–€2,800 per person, depending on duration.
All-inclusive: Accommodation, all meals, local transport, guiding and equipment are included
A week works brilliantly, but you don’t have to spend the whole week in the wilderness. We can combine several hut-to-hut days with comfortable accommodation before or afterwards – a bit of Arctic hardship followed by a hot shower and sauna never feels like a bad idea.
Get in touch and we’ll talk you through the adventure! 😊❄️
